L.C. Eaton
Funeral services for L.C. Eaton,
business man of Mauldin, will be
conducted this afternoon at 4
o'clock at Mauldin Baptist Church
by the Rev. W.T. Reid and the Rev.
S.P. Hester. Interment will be in
Reedy River Baptist Church
Cemetery.
The following nephews
will meet at the home at 3:30
o'clock to serve as active
pallbearers: Fred Bull, Jr., Alvin
Norton, John Cox, J.P. Gupton, Jim
Willis Whitt and Furman Massey.
Composing the escort of
honor will be C.L. Deadwyler,
James Gilfillin, Dr. A.M.
Scarborough, Lewis Brookshire, Joe
A. King, J.L. Mahon, Dr. Frank
Kitchen, John P. Ashmore, Roy M.
Fore, J.C. Parks, J.M. Miller,
Henry Hammond, O.C. Green, G.C.
Osborne and Joe M. Hunt.
Mr. Eaton had been in
declining health for several years
with his condition becoming
serious only a day before his
death occurred. He died at his
home in Mauldin Sunday.
He was a member of East
Park Baptist Church in Greenville.
Pending the hour of the
services his body will remain at
the home.

Maud Eaton
Mrs.
Maud Gupton Eaton, 81, of Cox St.,
Mauldin, widow of Lafayette Claud
Eaton, Sr., died Thursday.
Born in Castalia, Warren
County, N.C., daughter of the late
Elija Junius and Maud Pitchford
Gupton, she was a member of New
Hope Baptist Church and was active
in Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. Mary Eaton Cox of Mauldin,
two sons, Lafayette Claud Eaton
Jr. of Vallejo, Calif. and June W.
Eaton of Greenville; a sister,
Mrs. Selma Thompson of Henderson,
N.C.; three brothers, a twin
brother, Junius Gupton of
Richmond, Va., ; Dalma M. Gupton
of Henderson, N.C., and James A
Gupton of Charlotte, N.C.; five
grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be
Saturday at 2 p.m. at New Hope
Baptist Church near Mauldin, with
burial in Reedy River Baptist
Church Cemetery, Travelers Rest.
The body is at The Mackey
Mortuary and will be placed in the
church at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The family is at the home
of Mrs. Cox, Adams Mill Road,
Mauldin.

Eva Hawkins Edwards
Funeral services for Mrs. E.E.
Edwards of Farr's Bridge road will
be held this afternoon at 4
o'clock at Reedy River Baptist
church, conducted by Rev. S.W.
Jolly, assisted by Rev. C.M.
Warren. Interment will be in the
family plot in the adjoining
cemetery.
The following will serve as
pallbearers: Earnest Bruce, R.E.
Bruce, Toy Edwards, W.A. Edwards,
Emmett Edwards and James Edwards.
Mrs. Edwards, who was 81
years of age, was a lifelong
resident of Greenville. Her death
followed five weeks of illness and
occurred at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. E.A. Bruce, early
yesterday morning.
Besides her daughter, Mrs.
Bruce, she is survived by the
following sons, F.E. Edwards, C.E.
Edwards, C.H. Edwards and R.J.
Edwards, all of Greenville, and
H.E. Edwards of Charlotte, N.C.
In addition, she is survived
by 22 grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren.
Until the hour of service,
the body will remain at the Mackey
Mortuary.

B.B.
Ellison
Benjamin Board Ellison, native of
Anderson County but a resident of
here since 1918, died at his
residence in the Duncan's Chapel
community at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Ellison had been in declining
health for several years, and was
seriously ill for the past six
weeks.
He was a son of the late
James and Mary (Lollis) Ellison of
Anderson County, and was 67 years
of age. He was associated with the
Piedmont and Northern Railway for
33 years as an electrician, having
been retired last December 1
because of failing health.
He was a member of the Reedy
River Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Dessie Mareee (Marett)
Ellison, and one son: Robert L.
Ellison of Greenville; three
brothers, O.G. Ellison of
Anderson, E.W. Ellison of Atlanta,
Ga., and C.P. Ellison of
Pineville, N.C.; seven sisters,
Mrs. S.B. White and Mrs. J.I.
Powell of Abbeville, Mrs. J.E.
Stevenson, Mrs. Fred Lundkovsky,
Mrs. Lucy Day, Miss Essie Ellison
and Mrs. Flora T. Day, all of
Anderson; 50 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, conducted
by the Rev. S.P. Hester, will be
held at the Reedy River Baptist
Church Friday at 4:30 p.m., and
the interment will be made on the
family plot in the adjoining
cemetery.
Asked to serve as
pallbearers and meet at the Mackey
Mortuary at 4 p.m.: Alvin Bridwell,

Wakefield, O.J. Deal, W.K. Bledso,

Dessie Marett Ellison
Mrs. Dessie Marett Ellison,
79, of Rt. 7, N. Parker Road,
widow of B.B. Ellison, died
yesterday at a local hospital
following two weeks of serious
illness.
A daughter of the late M.E.
and Mollie Galloway Marett, she
was born in Elberton, Ga. For many
years she made her home in
Anderson prior to coming to
Greenville in 1918.
She was a member of the
Duncan Chapel Home Demonstration
Club and served as president for a
number of years.
She was a member of Reedy
River Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Robert
L. Ellison, of Greenville; three
sisters, Mrs. R.E. Hudson (Sarah)
of Greenville; Mrs. S.B. Wyly
(Geneva) of Brandon, Fla., and
Mrs. A.R. Clarkson (Fannie Mae)
Clarkson of Orlando, Fla. and a
brother, Frank A. Marett of El
Cajon, Calif.
Funeral services will be
held at The Mackey Mortuary at 11
a.m. Saturday by Rev. S.P. Hester
and Rev. C. Dillard Alexander.
Burial will be in the Reedy River
Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the mortuary
and the family is at the home of
her sister, Mrs. R.E. Hudson, 145
Duncan Chapel Road.

Erwin
James Hubert Erwin, 76, of
209 Rutledge Lake Road, died March
20, 1990, at Byrnes Medical Center
in Columbia.
He was a member of Reedy
River Baptist Church and a retired
employee of Creative Advertising
Co. in Greenville.
Surviving are his wife,
Bertha Elizabeth Lowman Erwin of
the home; a daughter, Donna Erwin
Glazener of Table Rock; and a son,
Kenneth E. Erwin of Greenville.
Graveside services: 3 p.m.
Thursday in Reedy River Baptist
Church Cemetery.
The family is at the
residence.

Erwin
Funeral services for James
Thomas Erwin, 19, son of Mr. and
Mrs. James H. Erwin of 507-A Cedar
Lane Road, who died Monday from
injuries received in an automobile
accident Sunday on Laurens Road,
will be conducted today at 4:30
p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church
by Rev. S.P. Hester. Burial will
be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Thomas
W. Miller and Thomas W. Miller
Jr., James B. Madray Jr., Clarence
Trammell, Thomas Daisley and David
Aikens.
Born June 28, 1944 in
Indianapolis, Ind., he had lived
in Greenville for 17 years. For
four years he had lived on Cedar
Lane Road.
Tommy was a graduate of
Parker High School, class of 1962.
He was an apprentice
electrician at Huntington and
Guerry Electric Co.
He was a member of Reedy
River Baptist Church.
Surviving also are a
sister, Mrs. Donna Lee Looper of
Greenville; a brother, Kenneth E.
Erwin of the home, and his
grandfather, John P. Lowman of
Indianapolis, Ind.
The body is at the funeral
home, where the family will
receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday.
